How Much Air To Put In Your tires

However well a tire is constructed, even by reputed manufacturers like Bridgestone a tire can fail due to a puncture, due to an impact, or overloading and improper inflation.

Proper inflation is the most important when you want long service life from your Bridgestone Medium truck tires. The owner’s manual would indicate the correct inflation pressures. Under inflation can cause heat in the tire to build up and may also cause major internal structural damage to the tire. Under inflation can also affect the handling of your truck and greatly effect fuel economy. A properly inflated tire has to cover a certain distance for each revolution. An under inflated tire would cover less distance per revolution thus greatly increasing the fuel required to travel the same distance. Over inflation could render the tire more likely to puncture or break when there is a sudden impact. The pressure indicated on the sidewall of a tire is the maximum pressure that the tire can take and is not an indicator of the optimum pressure.
